Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed that Joe Cole is edging closer to a return from a hamstring injury.
The England international suffered the setback during the defeat to West Bromwich Albion on the opening day of the season but has started to step up his return to fitness.
Rodgers told the club's official website: "Joe is working well and the medical department are pleased with his progress.
"He was out onto the pitch over the weekend doing some work, so there's still a little way to go with Joe yet but he's on the right track, which is important."
Cole reportedly rejected an offer to join Spartak Moscow last week.
