Southampton have pulled the plug on a move for Daniel Sturridge due to a £50m price tag slapped on the player by Liverpool, according to a report.
The 28-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at Anfield this season, with Roberto Firmino largely preferred up front by Jurgen Klopp.
Sturridge's lack of game time has prompted interest from a number of clubs across England and Europe, with Saints thought to be one of the interested suitors.
According to The Sun, however, the south coast strugglers have been quoted £50m for the England international's signature.
The report goes on to claim that the Reds are eager to recoup some of the money spent on the £75m transfer of Virgil van Dijk from St Mary's to Anfield.
Inter Milan and Sevilla are also believed to be in pursuit of Sturridge.
