Juanmi, Nordin Amrabat strikes hand Malaga win over Cordoba

Strikes from Juanmi and Nordin Amrabat secure a 2-0 victory for Malaga in their La Liga clash against Cordoba at La Rosaleda Stadium.

Malaga defeated Cordoba 2-0 in their La Liga clash thanks to strikes from Juanmi and Nordin Amrabat.

The hosts started the game the stronger of the two sides as Juanmi managed to carve out space for a strike at goal, but his effort was well saved by Mikel Saizar.

Malaga created another opening when Samu Castillejo did well on the edge of the area to find the run of Ricardo Horta, but the shot from the midfielder was saved.

Sergi Darder almost handed the home side the lead when he raided down the left and curled an effort towards the bottom corner, but his strike went inches past the post.

In the second half, Malaga took the lead when Castillejo played Juanmi through on goal and the striker had no problem slotting the ball past Saizar into the net.

Javi Gracia's men could have extended their lead but Darder failed to find the target with two shots from inside the box after the hosts had built well through the midfield.

Cordoba pushed for an equaliser late in the match, but they were left exposed at the back, which allowed Malaga to seal their win when Amrabat drilled a shot into the bottom corner.
