Former Bayern boss says Sane is 'overpriced'

Former manager Jupp Heynckes feels that Bayern Munich would not be getting value for money by signing Manchester City winger Leroy Sane.

Former manager Jupp Heynckes has suggested that Bayern Munich should opt against meeting Manchester City's valuation of Leroy Sane.

Despite the winger spending the season on the sidelines with a serious knee injury, Bayern have been frequently linked with an official approach for the Germany international.

However, with Sane having just over a year left on his contract and still only 24 years of age, Heynckes wants Bayern to avoid paying an inflated fee for his signature.

Speaking to Bild, Heynckes said: "For me, he has not yet made a breakthrough to an absolute top player. I think this is a player at a crossroads. Will he keep working hard on himself, or will he remain just as an exceptional talent?

"He has to be ready to make the next big step. Because there is no use in flashing the talent from time to time. I also honestly tell you that I don't consider the price justifiable."

City allegedly value Sane in the region of £90m, although that asking price may be lowered as a result of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
