Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera predicts that Alexis Sanchez will become a "very important" player for the Red Devils if his debut display is anything to go by.

Ander Herrera has heaped praise on new Manchester United teammate Alexis Sanchez following his "amazing" debut performance against Yeovil Town on Friday night.

The 29-year-old played a part in two goals on his first outing as a Red Devils player, helping his side to a comfortable 4-0 win and a place in the last 16 of the FA Cup.

Spanish midfielder Herrera was among those to profit from Sanchez's creativity in attacking midfield, netting the second of four goals, but he was equally impressed by the former Arsenal man's defensive qualities.

"[He was] amazing. He has played very good, but what I really like from him is the way he fights when he loses the ball," Herrera told MUTV. "He is always ready to be the first defender of the team.

"That's going to be very important for us. Of course, we know his quality. He is going to be amazing for us but the way his first, the way he defends I really like it."

Michael Carrick, who returned to the United XI at Huish Park following a spell on the sidelines, also hailed the Chilean forward for his all-round work.
