Report: Manchester United want Louis van Gaal as manager until 2017

Manchester United are reportedly delighted with the job that Louis van Gaal is doing as manager and have no plans to replace him before his contract expires in 2017.

Manchester United are reportedly pleased with the job that Louis van Gaal is doing as manager and have no plans to replace the Dutchman before his contract runs out at the end of next season.

Van Gaal's style of football has attracted criticism in recent weeks for lack of excitement, something which was not helped by United drawing 0-0 for the seventh time this season in all competitions with their latest stalemate against West Ham United on Saturday.

After that match, Van Gaal responded to Old Trafford's chants pleading his side to attack by arguing that his players did everything but score, and despite the 64-year-old's claim that his side cannot win the Champions League this season, The Mirror report that the club's board are happy with him at the helm.

The paper claims that a source told them that club officials are delighted with the Red Devils' league position and the work that Van Gaal is doing behind the scenes.

The report adds that United are unwilling to jeopardise the philosophy that Van Gaal has instilled at the club, and will instead press on with plans for assistant manager Ryan Giggs to take over in 2017.
