Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward wants to bring a director of football to Old Trafford, according to a report.

Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is reportedly keen to bring a director of football to the club.

Woodward's role when it comes to transfers has long been in the spotlight, and the Red Devils were first believed to be considering appointing a DOF in 2018.

According to The Telegraph, Atletico Madrid's Andrea Berta and Juventus's Fabio Paratici could both be on the club's shortlist when Woodward steps up his efforts to fill the role at the end of the season.

The report also mentions Antero Henrique, who departed Paris Saint-Germain in 2019, as a potential target.

The position would allegedly 'sit alongside the existing structure', with the candidate expected to work on recruitment and women's football as part of 'a wide-ranging post'.

United are currently third in the Premier League table and will look to secure their spot in next season's Champions League when they finish their domestic campaign away to fifth-placed Leicester City on Sunday.
