Deadline day key events
Rodri alternative? Real Madrid 'join race' for Liverpool, Man City target
Real Madrid have reportedly joined the race for one of Europe's most in-demand midfielders ahead of the January transfer window.
Los Blancos have been tipped to bolster their midfield options ever since Toni Kroos announced his retirement from football last summer.
Carlo Ancelotti currently has Jude Bellingham, Eduardo Camavinga, Federico Valverde, Luka Modric, Aurelien Tchouameni, Arda Guler and Dani Ceballos at his disposal, although the latter three midfielders have been linked with a potential exit.
While both Tchouamni and Guler have been the subjects of interest from clubs in the Premier League, Ceballos is believed to be wanted by former club Real Betis.
Amorim's 'serious' target: Man United handed major boost in Kvaratskhelia pursuit?
Manchester United have received a major boost in their pursuit of Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, according to a report.
The 23-year-old has developed into a star player for the Serie A outfit since joining from Dinamo Batumi in the summer of 2022, scoring 30 goals and providing 28 assists in 103 appearances across all competitions.
Kvaratskhelia was named in the 2022-23 Serie A Team of the Year after contributing with 12 goals and 13 assists in 34 matches to help Napoli win the Scudetto.
The four-time Georgian Player of the Year followed up that impressive campaign by recording 11 goals and eight assists in 34 Serie A games last season, and he has since chipped in with five goals and two assists in 13 Italian top-flight fixtures for Antonio Conte's side this term.
Vicario decision made: Spurs' Postecoglou comments on January free agent signing
Ange Postecoglou has commented on the possibility of Tottenham Hotspur signing a free agent to fill the void left by injured goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario.
Spurs confirmed on Monday that the 28-year-old has undergone surgery on an ankle fracture sustained in last weekend's shock 4-0 win over Manchester City, where he completed the full 90 minutes and kept a clean sheet despite picking up his injury in the first half.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of Tottenham's Europa League home tie with Roma on Thursday, Postecoglou was reluctant to put a timescale on Vicario's recovery, but he acknowledged that the Italian would be out for "months" rather than weeks.
"I guess a bit of a shock first of all because we saw he picked up an injury during the game and he was sore at half-time, but there was no doubt about him continuing," said Postecoglou
Wolves planning ambitious move for Europa League top goalscorer?
Wolverhampton Wanderers have allegedly identified one of Galatasaray's star men as a potential transfer target for 2025.
The West Midlands outfit have endured somewhat of a topsy-turvy campaign, spending much of the opening three-and-a-half months of the season in the Premier League relegation zone.
However, Gary O'Neil's side are currently on a four-match unbeaten streak, their tally across that period taken up to eight points on Saturday afternoon as they recorded a 4-1 victory at Fulham.
With Wolves having posed a constant threat in the final third of late, reports have indicated that priority will be placed on acquiring a new centre-back during the January window.
Is Rashford the answer? Amorim addresses Man United's goalscoring issues
Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has admitted that the club's goalscoring problems this season are "a concern".
The Red Devils have only found the back of the net on 13 occasions in their 12 Premier League matches this season, while their senior strikers Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have only managed two league goals between them in 20 matches, and Marcus Rashford has just two in 12 top-flight outings.
Rashford started through the middle against Ipswich Town on Sunday, and the Englishman scored the opening goal of the Amorim era in the early stage, but he then struggled until being replaced in the 68th minute.
Amorim admitted that playing through the middle "is not the best" for Rashford, but the Portuguese is confident that the likes of Hojlund, Zirkzee, Amad Diallo and Bruno Fernandes will add more goals in the coming months.
Tottenham eye two Championship goalkeepers as Vicario replacement?
Tottenham Hotspur may reportedly move for one of two Championship goalkeepers during the January transfer window.
On Saturday evening, Spurs produced one of their best performances in recent seasons to record a 4-0 victory over Premier League champions Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
However, it emerged on Monday night that goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario had played for an hour with a broken ankle during that encounter.
The Italian has now undergone surgery and will be sidelined until the early weeks of 2025, potentially stretching into the middle of February.
Barcelona 'work out plan to beat Man United' to goal machine Gyokeres
Barcelona are reportedly determined not to miss out on Sporting Lisbon star Viktor Gyokeres and have therefore come up with a plan which could see them beat Manchester United to the striker's signature.
Gyokeres has been in red-hot form for Sporting during the 2024-25 campaign, scoring 24 goals and registering four assists in 20 appearances in all competitions, including five goals in five Champions League matches.
The 26-year-old has also netted nine times for Sweden this season, and he is widely expected to be on the move next summer, with Man United regarded as the favourites for his signature.
Arsenal and Manchester City are also said to be keen, but Ruben Amorim's arrival at Man United from Sporting as their new head coach appears to have placed the 20-time English champions firmly in the driving seat.
Third time lucky? Pogba 'keen on Man United return' to play under Amorim
Former Arsenal and Manchester City defender Bacary Sagna has talked-up the possibility of his close friend Paul Pogba making a spectacular return to Manchester United on a free transfer.
Pogba received a four-year doping ban earlier this year after taking an illegal substance, but that has since been reduced to 18 months by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
The midfielder's argument that he took the substance unintentionally was accepted, and he can therefore resume training in January before being available again for selection on March.
Pogba's contract at Juventus will officially be terminated at the end of this month, and there has been a host of speculation surrounding his future in recent weeks, with the Frenchman available on a free transfer.
