Former Liverpool and Napoli defender Andrea Dossena believes that Kalidou Koulibaly could be the final piece in Jurgen Klopp's defensive puzzle.

Former Liverpool defender Andrea Dossena has urged the Reds to go all out in their attempts to sign Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly.

The defender has been persistently linked with a move away from Naples in recent weeks, and a host of European sides have been linked with a swoop for Koulibaly.

Liverpool are said to be taking an interest in the Senegal international, and Dossena believes that Koulibaly could form an impenetrable partnership with Virgil van Dijk at Anfield.

Speaking to Radio Musica TV, Dossena said: "If the league resumes, Napoli will struggle to qualify for the Champions League, so they will have to sell some important players.

"Klopp is missing one piece to complete a stratospheric squad and the Koulibaly-Van Dijk pairing could become a big barrier. Liverpool have no economic problems and therefore a deal with the English club would be within reach."

Manchester United, Newcastle United and Everton have all been credited with an interest in Koulibaly, who has made 21 appearances across all competitions for Napoli during the 2019-20 campaign.
