Bayern Munich have reportedly given consideration to the prospect of allowing Xherdan Shaqiri to join Manchester United in January, but only if they were to receive Ander Herrera in return.
At present, Bayern head coach Pep Guardiola is without a number of midfield players, including Thiago Alcantara, Javi Martinez and Philipp Lahm, due to injury.
As a result, it is believed that the Spaniard is eager to bolster his options this winter, with Christoph Kramer, Sami Khedira and Lars Bender all thought to be under consideration.
However, Guardiola is also an admirer of his compatriot Herrera and could tempt United into parting with their summer signing from Athletic Bilbao by offering playmaker Shaqiri in exchange, according to The Express.
Despite the fact that he only arrived at Old Trafford in June, some speculation has suggested that 25-year-old Herrera has struggled to settle in Manchester.
Shaqiri is also said to be a target of United's rivals Liverpool.
