Inter Milan are reportedly monitoring Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata and could make a move at the end of the season.
The 29-year-old's current deal with United is due to expire at the end of the campaign but the club do have the option of extending it by a further 12 months should they wish to do so.
United could allow Mata to leave on a free in the summer in order to free up funds for the acquisition of Arsenal's Mesut Ozil, who will also become a free agent at the end of the campaign should he not secure a move away this month or pen a new deal with the Gunners.
According to The Mirror, Inter are "watching developments closely" and will be ready to make a move should United decide to make Mata available.
The newspaper also claims that the Spaniard will "want to be sure he continues to have a future at Old Trafford before committing himself" to a potential new deal.
Mata, who moved to Old Trafford from Chelsea in 2014, has started 15 of United's 22 Premier League games so far this term, contributing three goals and three assists.
