Manchester City have reportedly made Leicester City centre-back Harry Maguire their 'number one choice' to replace outgoing captain Vincent Kompany in this summer's transfer window.
Kompany will be leaving City this summer to take up a player-manager role with former club Anderlecht.
The Belgian's departure is expected to see the Premier League champions move for a new centre-back, and according to the Daily Mail, Maguire is the club's leading target.
The report has claimed that Leicester are desperate to hold of the former Sheffield United youngster, meaning that any deal could eclipse the £75m that Liverpool paid for Virgil van Dijk.
Maguire was strongly linked with a move to Manchester United last summer off the back of helping England reach the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup.
The 26-year-old ultimately stayed at the King Power Stadium and penned a new long-term contract, but United are believed to be considering renewing their interest ahead of the 2019-20 campaign.
Maguire has scored five times in 76 appearances for Leicester since a 2017 switch from Hull City.
