Manchester United reportedly complete the loan signing of Shanghai Shenhua striker Odion Ighalo.

Manchester United have reportedly completed the loan signing of Shanghai Shenhua's Odion Ighalo.

Neither United nor Shanghai Shenhua have officially announced the deal, but according to Sky Sports News, the 30-year-old is heading for Old Trafford on a contract until the end of the 2019-20 campaign.

The Red Devils have been linked with a number of strikers since it became clear that Marcus Rashford would be on the sidelines for the next few months with a back injury.

Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood are currently United's only first-team options in attack, but Ighalo's signature has reportedly been secured until the summer.

There have been suggestions that the 20-time English champions will have the opportunity to sign Ighalo on a permanent deal at the end of the season, although official confirmation is yet to arrive from either club.

The Nigeria international scored 17 times in 55 Premier League appearances during his time at Watford, while he has netted 10 times in 19 outings for his current club in all competitions.

Ighalo will allegedly fly into Manchester over the next few days and could make his debut for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side against Chelsea in the Premier League on February 17.

Tottenham Hotspur were also thought to be interested in his signature.
