Graham Potter is reportedly in line to be offered the management position at Manchester United if Sir Jim Ratcliffe decides to replace the current boss Erik ten Hag.

Following months of speculation about a possible takeover, Ratcliffe is now on the verge of confirming the acquisition of a 25% stake in the club.

The deal, which is believed to be in the region of £1.4bn and subject to approval at a board meeting, would grant the petrochemicals billionaire control over sporting operations.

As reported by The Sun, the ex-Chelsea and Brighton & Hove Albion manager is considered a potential target for the Red Devils in the event of the dismissal of their current Dutch manager.

The report adds that Potter, who is currently without a club after being dismissed by Chelsea in April, drew interest from the other club owned by Ratcliffe, OGC Nice, earlier this year.

It is understood that Potter has been linked with a potential move to Serie A champions Napoli, who have expressed their interest in speaking with the 48-year-old, with Antonio Conte also emerging as a potential candidate for the job.

Following successful reigns at Swansea City and Brighton & Hove Albion, Potter's managerial stint at Stamford Bridge lasted only eight months after winning seven of his 22 league matches in charge.

Under Ten Hag, Man United had made their worst start to a season in 37 years before securing back-to-back victories against Brentford and Sheffield United either side of the international break.
