Report: Manchester United, Chelsea hold Wayne Rooney talks

A report claims that Manchester United and Chelsea have held talks over Wayne Rooney, with the champions keen on Juan Mata being included as part of any deal.

Officials from Manchester United and Chelsea have reportedly met over the last 48 hours to discuss the potential transfer of Wayne Rooney.

The Londoners have had two recent bids for the striker turned down by champions United, who have insisted that the England international is not for sale at any price.

However, the two clubs have held informal talks regarding the 27-year-old, with United said to be determined to hold out for at least £40m before they consider sanctioning the sale, according to Goal.com.

The report went on to add that United had told Chelsea that they may accept a transfer fee plus Juan Mata in exchange for the former Everton frontman.

Meanwhile, despite his supposed determination to leave Old Trafford, Rooney was present at a team meal yesterday evening.
