Manchester United goalkeeper Sam Johnstone has admitted that he is not sure if he will re-join Preston North End on loan this season.
The 22-year-old, who spent last season at Deepdale as the Lilywhites earned promotion to the Championship, was expected to move back to the Lancashire club this term.
However, Johnstone has suggested that uncertainty surrounding the futures of both David de Gea and Victor Valdes is affecting his plans.
He is quoted by The Guardian as saying: "I'm not sure. Nothing's been said really. We're waiting on different situations and have to see how it pans out.
"I need to play games but on the other hand I am contracted here to Manchester United so I have to see what happens here first. So it does have a knock-on effect on me."
United fielded Sergio Romero in goal for their Premier League opener against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
