Dutch midfielder Donny van de Beek admits that he could leave Manchester United during this summer's transfer window.

Donny van de Beek has admitted that he could leave Manchester United during this summer's transfer window.

The 26-year-old scored the only goal of the match early in the second period as the Red Devils recorded a 1-0 victory over Lyon in Wednesday's pre-season friendly in Edinburgh.

Van de Beek was asked about his future following the clash with the French giants, and the Netherlands international conceded that a move away from Old Trafford this summer is a possibility.

"For now, it's hard to say where my future is. I've come back now after injury and I'm fit now, so I play my first minutes after training for a few weeks, so I try to push as hard as possible," Van de Beek told reporters following the one-goal success over Lyon in Man United's second friendly of the summer.

"Every day [something] can happen, so it's hard to say now where my future will be. In football you never know, especially with me, so let's see what happens."

When asked whether the door was still open for him to remain at Man United, Van de Beek said that he could stay at the club but also admitted that an exit was possible.

"Yeah, but it's also a possibility that I move, so everything is open. It's hard to say now where my future is," said the midfielder on Wednesday afternoon.

Van de Beek, who made the move to Manchester from Dutch giants Ajax in the summer of 2020, has another two years left to run on his deal at Old Trafford, with the option of a further 12 months.

The midfielder was restricted to just 10 appearances in all competitions during the 2022-23 campaign, having picked up a season-ending knee injury against Bournemouth at the start of January.

Van de Beek had started to enjoy a run in the side before picking up the injury against Bournemouth, but his long-term future at Old Trafford is far from clear.

The Dutchman primarily operates as an attacking midfielder, which is the position that is held by Bruno Fernandes in the first XI, while Mason Mount has arrived to further boost the competition for spots.

A decision on Van de Beek is unlikely to be made until the latter stages of pre-season, and he is set to travel with the squad for their tour of the United States.

However, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano recently claimed that the Dutchman was ready to leave Old Trafford this summer in search of regular action.

Man United have now recorded two wins from their opening two pre-season games of the summer, having also overcome Leeds United in Oslo last week.
