Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek has reportedly rejected the chance to join Newcastle United on loan for the remainder of the season.
Red Devils interim head coach Ralf Rangnick is keen to keep hold of the Netherlands international this month, but a loan exit is possible due to the midfielder's continued lack of action.
According to The Telegraph, Newcastle approached the 24-year-old to offer him the opportunity to move to St James' Park for the rest of the season.
However, the report claims that Van de Beek rejected the chance to join the Magpies, as he does not want to represent a club currently struggling towards the bottom of the Premier League table.
Eddie Howe's side could allegedly make another attempt to sign the Dutchman before the end of the month, with the club able to offer him the first-team football that he desires in a World Cup year.
Van de Beek was a late substitute in Man United's 2-2 draw with Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday, and he has not started a single league game for the 20-time English champions in 2021-22.
