Aitor Karanka dismisses promotion talk

Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka refuses to get carried away with talk of promotion to the Premier League.

Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka has refused to get carried away with talk of promotion after his side went top of the Championship.

A stoppage-time goal from Adam Forshaw handed Boro all three points as they hosted Reading at the Riverside last night, taking them two points clear of Burnley at the summit.

Speaking after the game, Karanka insisted that he was "pleased" for his players but was now only focusing on this weekend's trip to relegated Bolton Wanderers in the first of five fixtures left to play.

"When I arrive tomorrow at 7am to my office, I will just have one thing in my head: Bolton," Karanka told Sky Sports News.

"Now, for example, I am really pleased because we won the game, but when you are a coach, now my feelings are I am happier for [the players] than for me.

"They deserve to live this situation and now I am going home and I am going to dream about Bolton tonight. When you are a coach, you enjoy it especially with players like them, who are doing their best every single day."

Boro's run-in features tricky fixtures with second-placed Burnley and third-placed Brighton & Hove Albion.
