Ross County boss Derek Adams has admitted that he is interested in signing Newcastle United youngster Mehdi Abeid on a permanent deal.
The 20-year-old, who has been on loan at St Johnstone this season, will be a free agent at the end of June when his contract comes to an end.
Adams told the Daily Record: "He's someone we are interested in but whether we can get him is a different matter. We have made contact with Newcastle and we'll see what happens.
"He is technically gifted and likes to drive forward from midfield. He can score goals and create chances.
"He is also the right age. I was impressed with him in the game against us, but I was aware of him before then and watched him a few times."
A host of Football League clubs are also reportedly monitoring developments.
