Northern Ireland manager Michael O'Neill expects competitive Scotland friendly

Northern Ireland boss Michael O'Neill admits that he is expecting a competitive friendly against Scotland at Hampden Park.

Northern Ireland boss Michael O'Neill has claimed that his players will "get a lot" out of Wednesday's friendly with Scotland.

The two sides meet at Hampden Park as preparation for their Euro 2016 qualifiers against Finland and Gibraltar respectively.

While friendlies can often provide an uninspiring atmosphere, O'Neill is confident that there will be more of a competitive edge against the Scots in Glasgow.

"It will be a good test for us because, often with a friendly international, it can be a little bit low key," he is quoted as saying by BBC Sport.

"We have had a couple of those in the last few years and didn't get very much out of them. I think we will get a lot out of this game. The nature of it being Scotland-Northern Ireland will add to that as well and hopefully a big crowd at Hampden."

Northern Ireland have won three of their last four games in Euro 2016 qualifying.
