Chris Cohen has admitted that he will have to prove himself again when Stuart Pearce takes over at Nottingham Forest.
Pearce will begin his new role in the summer, and Cohen believes that every player at the club must display their quality to make sure they are part of the manager's plans.
"Hopefully I will be in his plans and he will want me to be part of his team," the 27-year-old, who has been out with a knee injury since November, told the Evening Post. "That is the first part. We all start with a clean slate.
"He will not rely on the fact that we have done good things in the past, we will have to prove to him that we are ready and able to contribute.
"I have had two new knees so I have to prove to him that I am good enough to play at this level, within his team."
Gary Brazil is currently in charge of the first-team squad at the City Ground.
