Preston North End have announced that Alex Neil has agreed to become their new manager.
Last week, Sunderland were successful in tempting Simon Grayson away from Deepdale, and it left the Championship outfit needing to move for a replacement just weeks before the new season.
However, despite being linked with a reunion with David Moyes, they have revealed that former Norwich City boss Neil has moved to the club on a 12-month rolling contract.
The 36-year-old told the club's official website: "I've looked at this opportunity and seen that the club has made progress for four years running and I am looking forward to trying to continue that progress.
"It is a really good challenge for me. I have been involved in a lot of big games in a short space of time and hopefully we can be involved in a lot more big games here at Preston North End."
In March, Neil was sacked as manager of Norwich after 108 matches in charge, but he was successful in securing promotion to the Premier League with the Canaries in 2015.
