Les Ferdinand hails "ideal candidate" Chris Ramsey

QPR director of football Les Ferdinand believes that new permanent head coach Chris Ramsey will provide the club with a solid platform for the future.

Queens Park Rangers director of football Les Ferdinand has claimed that it was an easy decision to appoint Chris Ramsey as the club's permanent head coach.

Ramsey signed a three-year contract with the R's on Tuesday following a three-month spell as interim manager at Loftus Road.

While the 53-year-old failed to keep QPR in the Premier League, Ferdinand believes that appointing Ramsey will give the club a solid platform in their bid for promotion next season.

"From the board, to the players, to the staff, Chris has impressed everyone here in his short time in charge," the former striker told the club's official website.

"His coaching methods and techniques are second to none and with an opportunity to work with new players going forward, he is the ideal candidate for the role in terms of our new philosophy of nurturing young talent and promoting from within.

"Rebuilding the club is our first target. If we can make an immediate return to the Premier League, then great, but we have to focus on re-establishing the traditions of QPR. That will take time, but in Chris we have a man who is relishing the challenge that lies ahead."

QPR wrap up their Premier League campaign on Sunday when they face Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.
