Barcelona team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Real Madrid

Sports Mole rounds up Barcelona's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Sunday's El Clasico showdown with Real Madrid.

Barcelona travel to bitter rivals Real Madrid on Sunday for an explosive El Clasico showdown that could determine the outcome of a tight title race in La Liga.

Quique Setien's side have won four top-flight games in a row, most recently thrashing Eibar 5-0 thanks to a four-goal showing from Lionel Messi, to overtake Madrid at the summit.

However, Barca were held to a 1-1 draw by Napoli in the Champions League and Tuesday and were also recently knocked out of the Copa del Rey by Athletic Bilbao.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the Catalan giants' latest injury and suspension news ahead of the match in Madrid.

Possible return date: Unknown

Ousmane Dembele will miss the remainder of the 2019-20 campaign having recently undergone surgery on a hamstring injury. The France international has struggled with injuries during his time at Camp Nou and is expected to be on the sidelines for the next six months or so.

Possible return date: Unknown

Luis Suarez underwent an operation in January after damaging the external meniscus on his right knee. The Uruguay international is out for the foreseeable future, although it is thought that he could be available for selection before the end of the 2019-20 campaign.

Jordi Alba picked up a groin injury in the early stages of the clash with Getafe on February 15. The Spanish champions did not put a timeframe on his return, but Setien revealed at his pre-match press conference that the full-back should be okay to play a part against Madrid.

Possible return date: March 21 (vs. Leganes)

Versatile player Sergi Roberto has been ruled out for three to four weeks with an adductor injury, meaning that he will miss a string of crucial games - not least this one at the Santiago Bernabeu. The 28-year-old has featured 29 times in all competitions this term at right-back and in midfield.

Gerard Pique
