Rafael Benitez '99%' certain to join Real Madrid

The agent of departing Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti says that Rafael Benitez is "99%" certain to be the Italian's successor at the Bernabeu.

The agent of Carlo Ancelotti has claimed that Napoli manager Rafael Benitez is "99%" certain to be the Italian's successor at Real Madrid.

Ancelotti was sacked by the Spanish giants earlier this week having failed to pick up any silverware this season, with bitter rivals Barcelona on course for the treble.

Benitez has been heavily linked with the vacant post at the Bernabeu, and Ernesto Bronzetti has revealed that the Spaniard is almost guaranteed the job.

"Benitez is 99% sure to go to Real," he told Italian television channel Rai Sport.

Benitez, who guided Valencia to two La Liga titles in addition to winning the Champions League with Liverpool, reportedly turned down an approach from West Ham United in order to wait for the Madrid opportunity.
