Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal has lavished praise on Cristiano Ronaldo following the Portuguese's five-star performance at the weekend.
Ronaldo's five goals in Los Blancos' 6-0 win at Espanyol moved him onto 230 La Liga strikes – breaking Raul's long-standing record of 228 for the capital side.
Carvajal has said that the 30-year-old's record-breaking goal haul is further confirmation of his standing as the "best player in the world".
"Anyone who plays football knows that it's not easy to score five goals in one game," Carvajal told reporters.
"None of the teams we play are pushovers, and everyone knows that we play in the best league in the world. Cristiano is the best player in the world and he'll be back to show it."
Ronaldo has netted 318 goals in all competitions for the Spanish giants.
