Luka Modric will reportedly extend his Real Madrid contract until the summer of 2021.
Modric enjoyed an outstanding 2018 as he inspired Madrid to another Champions League crown, in addition to playing a key role as Croatia reached the final of the 2018 World Cup.
The midfielder struggled to replicate that form during the 2018-19 season, however, and there had been speculation surrounding the future of the former Tottenham Hotspur playmaker.
According to Marca, though, a clause in the 33-year-old's contract stated that his deal would be extended by a year if he landed the 2018 Ballon d'Or, which proved to be the case.
There is expected to be a huge turnaround in players at the Bernabeu this summer, although Toni Kroos has already signed a new deal and will seemingly soon be followed by Modric despite both players underperforming over the last nine months.
