Report: Cristiano Ronaldo asks Real Madrid for £1.35m-per-week salary in new deal

Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly tells the Real Madrid board that he wants a salary of £1.35m per week if he is to commit his future to the Bernabeu.

Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly told the Real Madrid board that he wants a salary of £1.35m per week if he is to sign a new deal at the Bernabeu.

The five-time Ballon d'Or-winner's future has once again become the subject of speculation following comments after the Champions League final win over Liverpool.

Although Ronaldo gave little away in terms of explicitly seeking a move away, he spoke of his time at Real in the past tense, telling reporters that "it was very nice to be in Madrid".

According to El Confidencial, Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes has put forward terms over a new contract worth £70m a year before tax.

Ronaldo is currently believed to earn £350,000 per week, with Paris Saint-Germain talisman Neymar pocketing £619,000 per week and Barcelona forward Lionel Messi on £673,000 per week at Barcelona.

The report states that the former Manchester United attacker wants a higher salary which reflects the current football landscape, given that he has won Ballon d'Or titles in back-to-back years.

In addition, the report claims that Ronaldo faces having to pay up to £17m to the Spanish treasury, having been accused of tax fraud, and wants more protection from his club as well as financial aid to cover the cost.

Ronaldo scored 44 goals in 44 games last season in all competitions.
