Roma put three past 10-man Sampdoria

Roma extend their unbeaten run to five games by beating 10-man Sampdoria 3-0 this evening.

Roma have extended their unbeaten run to five games by beating 10-man Sampdoria 3-0 in their Serie A match this evening.

Sampdoria struggled to contain Roma throughout, with Mattia Destro firing straight at goalkeeper Junior da Costa and Manolo Gabbiadini driving over the bar early on.

Gervinho came close to giving Roma the lead when he got in behind the Samp defence and lifted the ball over the top of Da Costa, only for Daniele Gastaldello to clear off the line.

The opportunity gave the hosts confidence and they ramped up the pressure, with Miralem Pjanic dragging a shot wide minutes before setting up Maicon, but the Brazilian's effort was well blocked.

Radja Nainggolan was the next to have an effort from long range fly over the bar, before Kevin Strootman wasted a golden chance to put his side in front.

Destro eventually broke the deadlock just before the break when he rose highest to head home Pjanic's ball into the box.

Pjanic doubled Roma's advantage after the restart when he drilled in a low free kick from 25 yards.

They soon sealed the win when Destro turned and finished confidently following good work from Gervinho.

Gastaldello was then sent off 10 minutes from time when he picked up a second yellow card for a foul on Nainggolan.
