San Jose Earthquakes registered a comfortable 4-1 victory over Colorado Rapids at home in their Major League Soccer encounter on Saturday.
San Jose were in control right from the start and went ahead as early as the 11th minute, thanks to Simon Dawkins.
Alan Gordon made it 2-0 to the home side two minutes from the half-time interval when he turned in Rafael Baca's delivery from close range.
Colorado halved the deficit in the 54th minute when Tyrone Marshall headed home Martin Rivero's corner.
However, that did not unsettle San Jose, who restored their two-goal cushion in the 68th minute when Dawkins scored his second goal of the match.
Gordon completed his brace with 15 minutes left on the clock to bag maximum points for San Jose in this Western Conference game.
