Gordon Strachan: 'Germany have evolved since Scotland last played them'

Gordon Strachan believes that Germany "have evolved" since his Scotland side were beaten by the world champions in last year's qualifier in Dortmund.

Scotland boss Gordon Strachan has said that Germany "have evolved" since the two sides last met.

The Scots were narrowly beaten 2-1 by the world champions in their opening qualifier a year ago, but then went five games without defeat to put themselves in the mix for a place at Euro 2016.

However, Strachan believes that Joachim Low's side have recovered from their post-World Cup hangover and shown great improvement in recent matches.

"They have evolved since the last time we played them," Strachan is quoted as saying by the Daily Mail.

"They have players who can play anywhere on the pitch with a physical presence. Core strength, they all have that.

"They can interchange and are comfortable in different positions. They have a good touch and the ability to pass the ball, so when you're playing them, you are up against it."

Scotland host Germany at Hampden Park on Monday.
