Sheffield Wednesday manager Stuart Gray has said that he would like to add to his squad ahead of Saturday's FA Cup tie against Charlton Athletic.
Reports this week have suggested that the Owls will launch a fresh loan bid for Sunderland striker Connor Wickham.
When asked if a new forward could be brought in before the Charlton match, Gray told Sky Sports News: "Yes. We keep trying.
"When it's an emergency loan you're always relying on the clubs you're contacting not having any injuries or suspensions and you're hoping with your friendships and contacts with managers that they're willing to let them out.
"Hopefully I'll have a message on my phone and we'll have one in for Saturday. But we're always looking to strengthen."
Wednesday currently sit 17th in the Championship.
