Southampton manager Ronald Koeman has insisted that Jose Fonte is not for sale.
Recent speculation had linked the Saints captain with Premier League rivals Aston Villa and Everton.
However, Koeman has stressed that there is "no way" Southampton will be parting with the 31-year-old centre-back.
"I don't know if he is a target for another club. He is our captain and a very strong defender. There is no way we will sell the player," the Dutchman told reporters.
Fonte arrived on the South Coast from Crystal Palace in 2010 and he has gone on to make over 200 appearances for the club.
