Half-Time Report: Tottenham Hotspur sitting comfortably at the break in London derby

Harry Kane and Toby Alderweireld both find the net to give Tottenham Hotspur a commanding 2-0 lead over West Ham United at half time.

Tottenham Hotspur hold a convincing 2-0 lead over West Ham United at half time in their London derby clash, courtesy of goals from Harry Kane and Toby Alderweireld at White Hart Lane.

Spurs bossed the early possession without really posing a threat in their opponents' final third, with the first shot on target not arriving until 22 minutes in.

Christian Eriksen's well-struck drive was heading for the back of the net, only for Adrian to tip the effort away to keep the deadlock intact.

The home side did not have to wait too much longer to find a way through, though, as Kane profited from Dele Alli's wayward shot by twisting inside the box and smashing home the opener.

West Ham almost provided the perfect response when Diafra Sakho's overhead kick crashed back off the crossbar, but Tottenham remained strong and soon had themselves a second.

A corner from the left was well whipped in, allowing Alderweireld to simply get ahead of his marker and nod the ball home at the front post.

It could have been even better for Spurs prior to the interval, but Alli headed his attempt against the bar before Kane fluffed his lines when played through on goal to leave West Ham with just a little hope at the break.
