Ryan Mason has admitted that it was a great feeling to make a vital contribution as Tottenham Hotspur recorded a 3-1 win over Nottingham Forest in the League Cup.
The 23-year-old came off the bench in the second half to start a Spurs comeback with a long-range strike, and his delight was clear to see after spending a number of years as a periphery figure at White Hart Lane.
"I've been waiting for that for a very long time," Mason told Sky Sports News. "It was obviously nice to come on, get the goal and change the way the game was going.
"I've always been confident in my ability. I've had to wait a lot longer than other players but I can't moan. I came on tonight and I thought I made a difference."
Mauricio Pochettino singled Mason out for praise when speaking after the final whistle.
