Nacer Chadli has admitted that he had not heard of in-form striker Harry Kane before signing for Tottenham Hotspur.
Kane had only scored one senior goal for Spurs upon Chadli's £7m arrival from FC Twente in 2013, but is now competing to become their first-choice forward.
The 21-year-old has netted seven times in as many games, and Chadli is pleased to have seen his rise from relative unknown, to the Belgian at least, to somebody having a match-winning "impact".
"When I came to Tottenham I had not heard of him. But I am used to training with him and I can see that he is a very talented man and I can see that he has a great future," Chadli told reporters.
"He practises a lot of free kicks like that in training. He has a great shot and he still practises it. That is good, he is a young talented player. I am very happy for him and pleased for him that he made an impact."
Chadli and Kane, Tottenham's two top goalscorers, notched in the 2-1 win at Aston Villa on Sunday.
