Nabil Bentaleb wants Champions League football with Tottenham Hotspur

Nabil Bentaleb believes that Tottenham Hotspur should be challenging for Champions League football next season.

Nabil Bentaleb has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur should be aiming for Champions League qualification next season.

The 20-year-old midfielder, who played 35 times last term, signed a long-term contract extension with the club on Monday.

Spurs finished the 2014-15 campaign in fifth place in the Premier League table, but Bentaleb believes that they should be making a serious challenge for the top four this time around.

"This season we have to show something to the fans," he told Spurs TV. "Last season we finished fifth, which is a good position. It's a platform, we have to be better now.

"We have to go on and achieve things to thank the fans that were behind us for the whole season. Now it's time for them to get rewarded.

"Grabbing fourth place could be one of the best things of the season and obviously we're playing in the Europa League and no matter what competition we will play in, you can be sure that we will give 100% and we want to lift up one trophy this season."

Tottenham start the new Premier League season with a trip to Manchester United on August 8.
