Tottenham Hotspur defender Davinson Sanchez reportedly decides to leave the club this summer after being booed by his own fans in April's defeat to Bournemouth.

Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Davinson Sanchez reportedly wants to leave the club during the summer transfer window.

The Colombia international failed to win over Antonio Conte during the Italian's short-lived reign in North London, where Ben Davies, Eric Dier, Cristian Romero and Clement Lenglet were preferred in the heart of defence last season.

Sanchez's fortunes did not improve under Cristian Stellini, and he was memorably booed by his own fans after an error-strewn substitute cameo in Spurs' 3-2 loss to Bournemouth in April.

Having replaced the injured Lenglet in the first half, Sanchez was criticised for his role in Matias Vina and Dominic Solanke's goals and was brought off just 23 minutes after being introduced.

The 27-year-old was subsequently benched for their trip to Newcastle United, but after Stellini's four-man backline experiment went wrong, Sanchez took the place of Pape Sarr with Spurs already five goals down inside the opening half hour.

Prior to that St James' Park humbling, Tottenham captain Hugo Lloris claimed that he had never seen anything like Sanchez's own fans turning on him, and his future in North London looked bleak from thereon in.

As Ange Postecoglou moulds the Spurs squad into his own vision, Fabrizio Romano claims that Sanchez has decided to seek pastures new in the summer transfer window.

Romano adds that both Tottenham and Sanchez's agents are working to find him a fresh challenge, as he prepares to call time on his Lilywhites career after a turbulent six-year spell.

Tottenham paid €42m (£35.9m) to sign the centre-back from Ajax in 2017, and he has since made 205 appearances for the club in all tournaments, scoring five goals and providing one assist.

Sanchez made just 24 appearances in the 2022-23 season, though, including eight starts in the Premier League, although he was given the armband for January's FA Cup fourth-round win over Preston North End.

Tottenham have already confirmed one significant defensive exit ahead of the new season, as Barcelona loanee Lenglet is set to return to Camp Nou following the conclusion of his temporary spell.

At one stage, Spurs and Barcelona were believed to be discussing a permanent deal for the Frenchman, but Tottenham confirmed on Thursday that he would not be staying at the club.

Lenglet represents one of 12 players moving on at the end of the month, a list which also includes soon-to-be free agent Lucas Moura and Villarreal loanee Arnaut Danjuma, who earned just 162 top-flight minutes for Tottenham.

Highly-rated academy starlet Romaine Mundle - who made the bench in the Premier League and FA Cup - will also be departing, as will Jamie Bowden, Kallum Cesay, Malachi Fagan-Walcott, Roshaun Mathurin and Marqes Muir.

Finally, a trio of Under-18s players in Thomas Bloxham, Brandon Bryan-Waugh and Riley Owen will be advancing their careers elsewhere for the 2023-24 campaign.
