Giovani Dos Santos nears Tottenham Hotspur exit

Tottenham Hotspur winger Giovani Dos Santos looks certain to depart the club in the summer.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp has hinted that Spurs winger Giovani Dos Santos could be sold at the end of the season.

The 22-year-old joined the club from Barcelona in 2008, but has started just two league games in that period, and Redknapp has admitted that the club came close to selling him last summer.

"He is on the bench, he has got great ability, we nearly sold him at the start of the season for £13m to Udinese. The chairman of Udinese came over and had a chat with the chairman and he wouldn't go and that was a lot of money," Redknapp told Sky Sports News.

"Gio is a good player and is a good lad. He has good ability but in the end his contract is gradually running out so I don't know what you'd get for him in the end. I don't think he wants to sign a new one so I think the £13m would have been a good deal."

Spurs currently sit fourth in the Premier League table.
