Aston Villa assistant manager Ray Wilkins has said that he hopes to see a potential move for Tottenham Hotspur striker Emmanuel Adebayor materialise before the end of the transfer window.
The Togo international struggled for form for Spurs last season but was the club's top scorer when playing under current Villa manager Tim Sherwood during the 2013-14 campaign, leading to speculation linking him with a move to the West Midlands.
Asked if there was a chance of Adebayor moving to Villa when speaking to talkSPORT, Wilkins said: "I think there is. I can only talk for myself, but I'm hoping there is because when Adebayor wants to play, he is extremely effective. He knows the Premier League inside out, so he would be a good addition for us."
Villa are in the market for new forwards following the £32.5m sale of Christian Benteke to Liverpool, with Lorient striker Jordan Ayew also expected to undergo a medical at Villa Park this week.
