Costel Pantilimon has claimed that the Sunderland squad are enjoying themselves once again under the guidance of Dick Advocaat.
The Black Cats manager recorded his first victory last weekend with a vital 1-0 win over Newcastle United in the Tyne-Wear derby, and Pantilimon believes that the improved mood in the dressing room is crucial as they look to secure their Premier League status.
"It's been tough and we have not played enough good games but after beating Newcastle, confidence has improved and we believe we can finally move up the league," the Romanian told reporters.
"All of us are adapting to the new manager and his ideas. He has tried to bring us together as a group.
"In the games before he came, we were playing very badly but he has given us new motivation and brought the enjoyment back."
Sunderland will look to move further clear of the relegation zone when they host Crystal Palace on Saturday.
