Saturday's Championship predictions including Hull City vs. Ipswich Town

Sports Mole provides score predictions and previews for all of today's Championship fixtures, including Hull City vs. Ipswich Town.

Blackburn vs. Coventry (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Looking for the victory that could potentially secure their second-tier status, Blackburn Rovers will welcome Coventry City to Ewood Park for a Championship clash on Saturday afternoon.

Rovers still have work to do in order to avoid relegation following defeat to Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday, whilst the Sky Blues will be aiming to address their recent downturn in league form.

We say: Blackburn Rovers 1-1 Coventry City

With a match at Leicester to come on the final day, Blackburn will be targeting Saturday's visit of Coventry as a good chance to secure Championship safety.

The Sky Blues should be boosted by a number of star attackers back into the XI at Ewood Park, however with a number of fitness concerns elsewhere, we cannot envisage Coventry earning anything more than a point.

Bristol City vs. Rotherham (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Aiming to continue an unbeaten streak to end the Championship season, Bristol City will welcome already-relegated Rotherham United to Ashton Gate on Saturday.

The Robins find themselves six games without a defeat in 12th spot in England's second tier, while their visitors will bid to end their season on a high under the new management of Steve Evans.

We say: Bristol City 2-0 Rotherham United

Rotherham United showed renewed signs of fight in their first game under the stewardship of Steve Evans last weekend, but they face a tougher test on Saturday away at an in-form Bristol City side and we can only envisage the Robins having too much quality and taking all three points at Ashton Gate.

Cardiff vs. Middlesbrough (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Cardiff City and Middlesbrough square off on Saturday afternoon looking to secure a top-10 finish in the Championship standings.

The two teams sit in 11th and ninth position respectively and a win in South Wales for either side would put them on the brink of achieving that target.

We say: Cardiff City 2-1 Middlesbrough

This is a fixture with two evenly-matched sides who have collected regular points of late, making this a difficult match to predict. However, with Boro now three games without success on their travels, we are backing Cardiff to edge this contest by the odd goal in three.

Huddersfield vs. Birmingham (Saturday, 3.00pm)

With their hopes of avoiding relegation hanging by a thread, Huddersfield Town will do battle with fellow strugglers Birmingham City at the John Smith's Stadium on Saturday afternoon in the Championship.

The Terriers are on the brink of becoming a League One club after a sobering defeat to Swansea City last weekend, whilst Blues were unable to get the better of Rotherham United last time out.

We say: Huddersfield Town 1-1 Birmingham City

Huddersfield are on the verge of becoming the second team to be confirmed as relegated from the Championship, with the Terriers facing a huge task in saving themselves over the next week.

Birmingham are running out of chances to escape an unthinkable League One fate, and we believe that a draw at the John Smith's Stadium will leave Blues with it all to do on May 4.

Millwall vs. Plymouth (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Millwall manager Neil Harris on April 9, 2024© Reuters

Millwall play host to Plymouth Argyle on Saturday afternoon knowing that they have already secured their Championship status with two matches remaining.

However, it is a different story for 20th-placed Plymouth, who make the trip to The Den sitting just two points clear of the relegation zone.

We say: Millwall 2-0 Plymouth Argyle

Although it remains to be seen whether Millwall will react positively or negatively to playing with reduced pressure, we cannot ignore their three successive wins. While Plymouth have improved of late, a home victory looks far more likely.

Norwich vs. Swansea (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Norwich City play host to Swansea City on Saturday afternoon knowing that victory will all but guarantee their place in the Championship playoffs.

Meanwhile, a resurgent Swansea make the long trip to Carrow Road looking for the win that will strengthen their bid to finish in the top half of the standings.

We say: Norwich City 2-1 Swansea City

This has the makings of an entertaining encounter given that Swansea have been one of the form teams in the division over the past couple of weeks. However, we cannot ignore Norwich's home form, leading us to predict a hard-earned triumph for the Canaries.

Sheff Weds vs. West Brom (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Rohl reacts on March 8, 2024© Reuters

Looking to keep their head above water in the race for second-tier survival, Sheffield Wednesday will welcome Premier League-chasing West Bromwich Albion to Hillsborough on Saturday afternoon in the Championship.

The Owls broke out of the bottom three with a crucial win at Blackburn Rovers last weekend, whilst the Baggies suffered defeat at league leaders Leicester City.

We say: Sheffield Wednesday 1-3 West Bromwich Albion

West Brom could have scored three or four against Leicester last time out, and if the Baggies perform to similar levels on Saturday, they should have enough quality to win the contest.

Sheffield Wednesday are not your ordinary Championship relegation battlers under Rohl, however we believe that their survival hopes will suffer a major blow in this one.

Southampton vs. Stoke (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Southampton play host to Stoke City on Saturday afternoon looking to rediscover some form ahead of competing in the Championship playoffs.

At a time when the Saints sit in fourth place in the standings, Stoke are down in 17th spot and needing one win to secure their second-tier status for another 12 months.

We say: Southampton 3-1 Stoke City

Stoke will be confident of causing an upset on the back of Southampton's defeat at Leicester. However, the Saints have performed far more consistently on home turf, leading us to predict a fairly-dominant victory for Martin's side.

Watford vs. Sunderland (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Watford play host to Sunderland on Saturday afternoon looking to end the season on a high having appointed Tom Cleverley as their permanent head coach.

The Hornets sit just three points adrift of their 13th-placed opponents in the standings, the Black Cats still having aspirations of a top-half finish.

We say: Watford 1-1 Sunderland

Wins have been in short supply for both teams of late and we certainly do not expect many goals in this contest. Both teams may feel content not to suffer defeat, leading us to predict a dull stalemate at Vicarage Road.

Hull City vs. Ipswich (Saturday, 8.00pm)

Hull City manager Liam Rosenior on March 9, 2024© Reuters

With both sides fighting for a spot in next season's Premier League, Hull City will do battle with Ipswich Town at the MKM Stadium on Saturday night in the Championship.

The Tigers kept their top-six hopes alive with a dramatic victory over Coventry City on Wednesday, whilst the promotion-chasing Tractor Boys have been afforded a fortnight to dwell on a 1-1 draw versus Middlesbrough.

We say: Hull City 2-1 Ipswich Town

Hull will be full of confidence following Wednesday's win at Coventry, and we feel that the Tigers could catch Ipswich cold at the MKM Stadium on Saturday night.

The Tractor Boys are close to welcoming back a pair of key attackers, but we believe that the possible involvements of Hirst and Burns will not be enough for success.
