Alan Irvine admits doubts over his West Bromwich Albion future

Alan Irvine admits that his managerial future at West Bromwich Albion is in the hands of chairman Jeremy Peace after seeing his side fall to another defeat.

West Bromwich Albion manager Alan Irvine has insisted that his side will continue to work hard in order to climb up the Premier League table, while admitting that his future is out of his hands.

The Baggies fell to a 3-1 defeat against Manchester City at The Hawthorns earlier today to remain just two points outside the bottom three.

Questions have been asked of under-fire Irvine in recent weeks, and the Scot has acknowledged that his side must start winning games.

When asked about his personal future in charge of the club, he told reporters: "The chairman will make a decision as far as that is concerned and I can't control it.

"Can I be confident about it? No, not necessarily because I don't know what the thinking is. All I can do is work as hard as I do and keep on trying to get the right kind of performances and results.

"Unfortunately in the last couple of games we have attacked well and defended poorly and that was perhaps not the case earlier in the season, when we defended well but didn't attack so well. We are working hard to get the right balance."

West Brom face trips to Stoke City and West Ham United in the next six days.
