The 30-year-old has agreed a two-year contract.

West Brom have signed striker Charlie Austin from Southampton for an undisclosed fee.

The 30-year-old has agreed a two-year contract and becomes the seventh new arrival at the Hawthorns this summer.

Austin joins Filip Krovinovic, Kenneth Zohore, Semi Ajayi, Darnell Furlong, Romaine Sawyers and Grady Diangana in joining the Baggies under new manager Slaven Bilic.

Austin has a goals record of 70 in 132 Championship games and could make his debut on Saturday when West Brom host Millwall.

In a statement on their website, Southampton wrote: “The club would like to thank Charlie for his efforts and we wish him well for the future.”

The Baggies later announced the arrival of forward Chris Willock on a season-long loan from Benfica.

The former Arsenal youngster, 21, has yet to play for the Portuguese side’s first team.

“We’ve got a very good deal to bring him here for the season and Chris is excited at the opportunity,” said sporting and technical director Luke Dowling.

“He’s been looking to get back over here and Slaven enjoys working with and developing youngsters.

“It will be a brilliant shop window for him. He’s an exciting forward player with the capacity to work in the wide or central areas.”

The Baggies also beat the deadline to sign Brazilian winger Matheus Pereira from Sporting Lisbon on a season-long loan with a view to a permanent deal.

Downing added: “We hope he will be a player who can have a real effect on the team and one the fans will enjoy watching.”
