Carl Jenkinson: 'European football still possible for West Ham United'

West Ham defender Carl Jenkinson believes that he and his teammates can still qualify for Europe this season.

Carl Jenkinson has insisted that West Ham United can still qualify for Europe by the end of the season.

The Hammers have slipped down to ninth place in the Premier League table in recent weeks thanks to a five-game winless run.

Their last outing in the league saw them suffer a 3-1 defeat to Crystal Palace on Saturday at Upton Park.

With leaders Chelsea up next for West Ham at home tomorrow night, Jenkinson believes that a positive result can reignite their chances of finishing high up the standings.

"Our chances [of Europe] are definitely not gone," the defender told the club's official website. "There is a long time until the end of the season and we have got some winnable games in our run-in.

"In those last 10 we can win plenty of them and if we start getting the rub of the green and start show showing our form again then we are going to start climbing that table again. That has to be the aim and the boys are determined to do just that."

West Ham suffered a 2-0 defeat to Chelsea when they met at Stamford Bridge on Boxing Day.
