Kenny Jackett: 'We need to beat Watford'

Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Kenny Jackett admits that his side need to start earning points against the teams around them in the Championship table.

Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Kenny Jackett believes that his side's clash with Watford has turned into a six-pointer as they enter the final weeks of the season.

A gap of eight points currently separates the two teams in the Championship standings, and with Wolves currently four points outside of the playoffs, Jackett has acknowledged that it has become important to defeat the sides around them in the table.

The 53-year-old is quoted by the Express & Star as saying: "At certain stages of the season – and we're at one of those now, when there's not so many points to play for – who you play, the sides above you, becomes more important.

"It's important to get points against the sides around you, and also psychologically you can pull teams back. Playing sides above has more of a direct impact than in the first 12 games when you have 100 points to play for. You can see the contrast in people's fortunes.

"One team's gain is another one's loss. In our case, it's the sides above us we're looking to claw them back."

Wolves are likely to remain eighth even with a win at Molineux, but if the Hornets can win on the road for the 10th time this season, they could move to top spot.
