Leicester Tigers have claimed the first silverware of the season by beating Northampton Saints 26-14 to win the LV Cup.
The two Midlands sides met in the final at Worcester's Sixways Stadium this afternoon, with the early stages being dominated by the boot.
Saints' Stephen Myler had an opportunity to open the scoring with an early penalty, but sent his kick just wide of the posts.
However the Northampton fly-half made amends with a successful attempt just minutes later, as he and Tigers number 10 George Ford exchanged penalties to make the score 9-9.
Steve Mafi then crossed the line on 25 minutes to give Leicester the lead, with Ford adding the conversion.
With Northampton on the attack, Scott Hamilton intercepted the ball before running through unchallenged and touching down for a second Tigers score.
The Saints finally managed to break down a stubborn Leicester defence when Christian Day scored a 75th minute try, but it was too little to late as the Tigers hung on to claim the trophy.
