John Isner has eased into the third round of the Indian Wells Masters courtesy of a straight-sets victory over Nikolay Davydenko.
Both players were commanding on their own serve in the opening set, with only four break points allowed in the entire course of it and none of them being taken.
That resulted in a tiebreak to settle things and, although Davydenko took an early lead, Isner fought back to win the opener 7-6(5) with his first set point.
The second set began in a similar vein, with neither player giving much away on his own serve until the fourth game, when Isner managed to take advantage of the third of three break points to move into a 3-1 lead.
That proved to be a crucial breakthrough as the rest of the match went with serve, allowing Isner to seal things with a love game and clinch the second set 6-3.
