Johanna Konta has decided to withdraw from the China Open after her exploits at the Wuhan Open earlier this week
Konta, who will become the new British number one on Monday, came through qualifying before beating Andrea Petkovic, Victoria Azarenka and Simona Halep to reach the last eight of the high-profile event before being edged out by Venus Williams.
The 24-year-old had been scheduled to feature in the qualifying rounds in Beijing on Friday, but she has instead opted to return to England to prepare for the tournament in Linz, which begins in Austria on October 12.
Konta will enter the top 50 of the WTA rankings for the first time next week, while she provisionally sits at number 43 in the WTA Race, which is based on results during 2015.
